The mission of AGIC is to coordinate the development and management of geographic information in Arizona. AGIC promotes the use of GIS and related technologies to address problems, develop plans, and manage the natural, economic and infrastructure resources of the state.

Structure Type

The Arizona Geographic Information Council (AGIC) was established by Executive Order 89-24 as Arizona's primary forum and oversight group for geographic information and geographic information technology issues and coordination efforts.

Board Structure

AGIC is managed by a 29-membered Executive Management Board that is composed of representatives from Federal, state, and local governments as well as from regional GIS consortia, universities, and the private sector. The Executive Management Board holds meetings on a regular basis, the first Thursday every two months, at a location selected by its officers. Members of the Executive Management Board are appointed by the Governor from agancies that use GIS. Typically Board members are GIS management level as designated by their organization's director.
