Notes

The Indiana Geographic Information Council (IGIC) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to lead the effective application of geographic information in Indiana.

We provide coordination of Indiana GIS through dissemination of data and data products, education and outreach, adoption of standards, building partnerships, and the IndianaMap.

501(c)(3) nonprofit
•Formal statewide coordinating body for Indiana
•Mission to lead the effective application of GIS in Indiana for an improved quality of life

IGIC derives its income primarily through project-based grants, the annual Indiana GIS
Conference, and membership, which was formalized in January 2006. This year to date shows
comparable income from a year ago, with the majority of income received for grant work from
State and Federal agencies.
For the first time since formal budgeting began in 2005, the annual budget reflects a positive
year-end amount. IGIC has been able to successfully transition away from relying on retained
GIS Conference earnings to compensate for operational shortfalls. Including many operational
expenses in specific grants has contributed significantly to the balanced budget.
